2020 Event Trends
2020 is in full swing and events, pr, marketing and communications professionals across the Globe are designing their annual events engagement plans.
We’ve been busy helping some of our wonderful clients get to grips with the event trends we expect to be hot topics this year.
The events world has become an exciting and rapidly changing industry over the last few years. We have seen a shift from the large-scale flashy conferences to smaller targeted and more intimate gatherings. Clients are looking for a bespoke experience for their delegates and guests, which are both meaningful and relevant.
There is a renewed energy for delivering events which connect guest experience with a moral and ethical story. Our Story Maker team are seeing an increase in two areas which we will believe are crucial to consider when planning your events activity in 2020.
Activations
Creating an experience which allows individuals to interact with a brand is a growing concept. This creative approach tends encourages you to become immersed in a specific brand message or proposition to increase engagement and brand loyalty. It is often a free-flowing self-guided experience, allowing people to explore it at their own pace.
Some good examples include:
Sustainability
Traditionally, old style events are a huge drain on the environment and good events professionals are adopting sustainable processes into their planning. Reducing printed collateral, eradicating single use plastics and sourcing food and drink locally are all initiatives which are minimum expectations for a lot of clients. The Meetings Industry Association (MIA) recently launched a campaign to reduce single use plastics in events by 20% before 2025. Story Maker Events have signed this pledge and believe event clients, guests and delegates expect event planners to play their part in minimising the environmental impact.
